SUMMARY
Responsible for providing professional nursing care for clinic patients under supervision of the physician. Assists physician and staff in coordinating patient care. Functions as primary liaison between patients, staff and physician.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Assesses patient's general condition and takes vital signs and weight. Works in the clinic alongside Medical Assistant staff and follows all responsibilities outlined in the Medical Assistant job description.
Performs urology specific procedures under the order and supervision of a licensed healthcare practitioner such as, not limited to urodynamics, urinary catheter insert/removal, bladder ultra-sounds, urine cytology, post voiding trials, post tibial nerve stimulation.
Educates patient/family about diagnostic procedures, nutrition and maintenance of health and wellness.
Greets patients and prepares them for physician examination. Screens patients for appropriate information. Instructs patients in collection of samples and tests.
Maintains/reviews patient records, charts and other pertinent information. Records tests and examination results in patient's chart. Responds to/refers incoming patient treatment-related phone calls. Instructs patient and family regarding medications and treatment instructions.
Maintains exam rooms for necessary supplies and materials. Ensures cleanliness. Prepares list of medical supplies needed. Prepares equipment and aids physician during treatment, examination and testing of patients.
Restock lab area daily, including all drawers and treatment trays. Maintain inventory of medications and medical supplies.
Maintains patient confidentiality.
Schedule referrals, procedures and tests.
Perform other related duties as directed or required.
EDUCATION: High school diploma. Graduation from an approved vocational nursing program.
Experience: Prefer a minimum of one-year LVN experience.

REQUIREMENTS: State-licensed vocational nurse.

Knowledge of infectious disease management and control and safety standards.

Knowledge of medical chart reporting/records.
Knowledge of management and organizational theory to supervise the business practices including principles of employee development to train, delegate and mentor staff.
SKILLS:
Skill in appropriate assessment and assistance techniques.
Skill in appropriate use of universal precautions, safe workplace and confidentiality methods.
Skill in health information management by appropriately charting patient data.

PHYSICAL/MENTAL DEMANDS: Varied activities including standing, walking, reaching, bending and lifting. Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination. Must be able to use a variety of office equipment. Occasionally lifting and carrying files up to 50 pounds. May require working under stressful conditions.
ENVIRONMENTAL/WORKING CONDITIONS: Normal office and exam room environment. Frequent exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, medicinal preparations and other conditions common to a clinic environment.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
