Regional Government Services and its staff are conducting this recruitment on behalf of MPWMD.
This role performs a wide variety of responsible advanced and specialized clerical, secretarial, and administrative work in support of District-wide programs and activities and to interface with managers and staff of each division to plan, coordinate, and schedule the flow of support services work.
Office Specialist I - This is the entry level class in the Office Specialist series.
This class is distinguished from the Office Specialist II by the performance of the more routine tasks and duties assigned to positions within the series including reception and routine clerical duties.
This class is typically an entry level class.
Office Specialist II - This is the full journey level class within the Office Specialist series.
Employees within this class are distinguished from the Office Specialist I by the performance of the full range of duties as assigned including composing correspondence, preparing, and compiling information for meetings, providing accurate information to public inquiries related to area of assignment, and exercising initiative and judgment in a variety of situations.
Employees at this level receive only occasional instruction or assistance as new or unusual situations arise and are fully aware of the operating procedures and policies of the work unit.

ABOUT THE MPWMD Since 1978, The Monterey Peninsula Water Management District has worked diligently to augment the area's water supply, promote water conservation and the integrated use of reclaimed water and repair, improve and augment the environment along local stream side habitats.

Equivalent to a High School Diploma.
Experience:
One year of general office work experience.
Licenses:
Possession of, or ability to obtain, an appropriate, valid driver's license.
Knowledge of:

Microsoft Office Suite applications such as Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
Adobe pdf software editing programs such as Adobe Acrobat and Acrobat Pro.

Office Specialist II Education:

Associate's degree preferred.
Experience:
Three years of increasingly responsible general office work experience involving heavy public contact.
Licenses:
Possession of, or ability to obtain, an appropriate, valid driver's license.
In addition to the qualifications for Office Specialist I:
Knowledge of:
Techniques supporting the use and operation of computer equipment including word processing, spreadsheets, and the use of graphics.

Supplemental Information BENEFITS AND SALARY INFORMATION The starting salary will be commensurate with the experience, qualifications, and skills of the successful candidate within the salary range of $48,517 - $65,095 Annually DOQ/DOE.

Ten (10) days per year, fifteen (15) days per year after 1 year of service, twenty (20) days per year after 5 years or service; PEPRA:
Ten (10) days per year for the first 3 years of service, with progressive increase up to Twenty (20) days per year after 8 years of service Holidays - Eleven (11) recognized paid holidays, two (2) personal days, and six (6) management leave days per year.
